The Worship Ministry at FBC Wylie includes a variety of opportunities for performance and participation for all ages and abilities. Graded Choirs are available for children four years through senior adults. Each group has its own leader and musical activities.
Our Sanctuary Choir rehearses on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. Open to any adult that has an interest in leading worship through choral singing. The Choir leads in worship in the 9:15 & 10:45 a.m. services. Also, the Sanctuary Choir will present major dramatic works and/or choral concerts during the year. The Sanctuary Choir rehearses in the Choir Room.
Silver Chords Choir:
Our Silver Chords rehearse on the second and forth Mondays of the month at 9:30 a.m. Open to any senior adult who enjoys singing and fellowship! Besides the occasional special music in our worship services, the Silver Chords go on a Choir Mission Trip each Spring to south Texas to minister to "Winter Texans." You do not have to be able to read music to be in this group. The Silver Chords rehearse in the Choir Room.
Our Praise Teams are select groups that lead worship in our three services. The members of each of these teams are required to be a member of our Sanctuary Choir and then go through a yearly audition process. The Praise Teams rehearse on Wednesday nights, at 7:30 p.m. in the Worship Center and/or Choir Room.
Instruments of Praise:
The Orchestra practices on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. They perform in the Sunday morning services as well as special events and concerts. To be a member of this group, you must play at least on a high school level, and be prepared to do a short audition. Sight-reading is a must! We are currently looking for more instrumentalists, especially woodwinds and strings. Please contact our Worship Pastor, Allen Stroud, if interested!
The Praise Band performs in Sunday morning services as part of Instruments of Praise, as well as special events and concerts. Membership is limited and by invitation only. Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center.
