On the surface, New York City is more prosperous than ever.  Midtown Manhattan glistens with new development and tourism abounds.  Streets once plagued with urban blight now bustle with commerce.  Yet in the midst of unparalleled prosperity, the polarization of the city into rich and poor continues to intensify.  Consider these statistics:  1/3 or the 1.2 million children in NYC continue to live in poverty; of the 7.5 million people in NYC, 2 million live below poverty level. 

NEW YORK CITY RELIEF is a “search and rescue team” that offers a lifeline of hope to people lost in hopelessness, poverty, and addiction.  They exist to connect people in need with resources that offer hope such as shelter, job training, and faith-based drug rehabilitation programs.

Prayer Station Evangelism is the most successful method we have found to evangelize people on the streets of New York City. We set up a table with a red Prayer Station banner above it. We then pass out tracts and ask people as they walk by: "Do you have any needs you would like me to pray for?" We pray for all requests right there on the street. It is normal for us to pray with hundreds of people each week. People are not offended by prayer, and as we seek God for them at the Prayer Station, God opens up marvelous opportunities for us to talk and pray for their deepest need: Salvation. People seek God for salvation at our Prayer Stations on a continual basis.

On this trip you will be exposed to many forms of missions.  We will be working with a variety of ministries. The group will interact with adults, students, and children. This will be a challenging trip, but what a blessing it will also be.  It is perfect for someone who has never been on a mission trip before.

The New York Gospel Mission Church’s is to reach the Jewish community and the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One approach is taking replicas of historical biblical pieces, such as the Ark of the Covenant, to the people of New York City and using them as conversational tools for sharing the Gospel.
