STARS MISSION…
For adults with special needs to come to the knowledge of Christ and to grow in Him.

At First Baptist Wylie, it is our vision that everyone in the community has the opportunity to connect with God and others. The STARS Ministry is an opportunity for special needs adults and their families in our community to have the chance to come to the knowledge of Christ and grow with Him.
The STARS Sunday service includes music, fun, fellowship, and prayer. Everyone is given the opportunity to express themselves and is always treated with dignity and respect. All of the STARS adults are led by a loving, caring team of volunteers that take joy in respecting, supporting and honoring each of the adults.

The fellowship time is very interactive. The adults are encouraged to interact and assume leadership roles within the class and to contribute as much as each person may be comfortable with.
The STARS Ministry is designed to provide adults 18 years of age and older, with moderate to severe disabilities, a time to worship and have fellowship together. The developmental disability could be physical, mental or both.

The STARS class meets on Sunday mornings at
10:45am in the Fellowship Hall.

Did you know?
- 3%-5% of any given community is composed of the developmentally disabled.

- 14%-17% of any community is composed of various types of disabilities, most of which are acquired. 85%-90% of people with disabilities have no contact with a Bible-based church .

- 1/10 of 1% of persons with developmental disabilities has the opportunity to attend church.

How do I get involved?
A group of dedicated volunteers are coming together to establish the only Special Needs Ministry in this area. This group realizes the impact that this type of ministry would have for these adults and their families. The entire family would have the opportunity to worship together.
The volunteers that serve in the STARS Ministry at First Baptist Wylie have the opportunity to serve in many capacities. Individuals can serve weekly, monthly or for specific functions. The STARS Ministry welcomes assistance with Sunday lesson leadership, refreshment and snacks, worship music, artwork and costumes, administrative assistance and prayer.
